CURSE OF THE BLACK GOLD

For this assignment, we were asked to take an article in a periodical and present a redesign that's completely the opposite direction that the magazine would take. The basis for this was a piece in National Geographic about the oil industry in Nigeria in their February, 2007 issue.

twelve galaxies

Frank Chu is one of San Francisco's most well-known eccentrics, and his '12 GALAXIES' protest sign (always in the same colors, always typeset in Impact) is a ubiquitous sight downtown. For this article I interviewed Frank myself, and designed the spreads to reflect what must being going on inside his mind.

MUNDANE SAVES THE WORLD

For our Publications Narratives course, the final group project was to conceive of a new magazine as a class. Labor was divided among the articles and features. In addition to serving as the print production assistant, I designed the credits spread and the advertisements for the project sponsors.
